Who enthusiasts Jerry Monk
and Tom Gardner will lead an hour-long discussion on the music of
the British rock ’n’ roll band The Who (Guitarist/Composer Pete
Townshend, Lead Singer Roger Daltrey, Bassist/Composer John
Entwistle and Drummer Keith Moon).
The Who began recording and
releasing music in the early 1960s and are still recording today,
despite the death of original group members Keith Moon (who died in
1978) and John Entwistle (who died in 2002). The Who were inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year of
eligibility. Their display describes them as "Prime contenders, in
the minds of many, for the title of World's Greatest Rock Band."
Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "Along with The Beatles and The
Rolling Stones, The Who complete the holy trinity of British rock."
Among the songs we intend to
listen to and discuss: “I Can’t Explain”;
“My Generation”;
“Happy Jack”;
“I Can See for Miles”;
“Go to the Mirror!”;
“Bargain”;
“The Real Me”.
