E-mail Notification option now available!

Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes is pleased to announce a new e-mail notification service, which will be offered to Mercer County Library System patrons beginning on Monday, January 16, 2006. Patrons of the Library System will now have the opportunity to be notified by e-mail about reserved items ready to be checked out, as well as items that are overdue. Library patrons who wish to be notified by e-mail, instead of by phone or regular mail, may sign up for the new service at any one of the Library’s nine branches.

Mercer County Library System patrons have placed more than 423,323 library books and other materials on hold in the last year. The new e-mail service will expand the Library’s capability to serve its customers through its web-based catalog. The County Executive expects that this service will result in increased convenience to patrons, as well as a significant savings to the Library in the area of postage and adds, “The new e-mail notification option is a fine example of the Library’s ability to utilize the latest technology to facilitate convenient communication with patrons and improve patron services.”
