Art Display,
East Lobby
An exhibit of watercolor paintings by Lawrenceville
residents will be shown in the East Lobby Gallery of the
library throughout November. An artist’s reception will be
held on Saturday, November 7, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
“Ellegance”,
a collection of hand-crafted jewelry made by Ellen Haveson,
will be on display in the library’s display cases throughout
the month.
Dyslexia Demystified:
Discerning the Facts—Disclosing the Myths
Thursday, November 5, 7:00 p.m.
Mary Ann Hughes, M.A., Master Teacher at The Lewis School
will present a program that includes the historical
background of the disorder, information about scientific
advances, the characteristics and academic markers
associated with dyslexia and the strategies for effective
intervention and focused remediation. Refreshments will be

Lawrence Poetry Circle

Scholar and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet John Berryman will

Environment Fest

This event will present a variety of speakers and
presentations on environmental themes. Presenters include
the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association, Sustainable

Gardeners and the architectural firm McAuliffe and Carroll.

Author Gwen Southgate
Sunday, November 15, 2:00 p.m.
Gwen Southgate, author of Coin Street Chronicles: London's
Vanished Old South Bank Area, will discuss her book about
life growing up in London during the 1930s and 1940s. Ms.
Southgate’s talk will focus on life in an impoverished area
of the city and her experiences as an evacuee of the city
during World War II. The event is sponsored by the Lawrence
Historical Society and the Lawrence Library. Refreshments

Friends of the Lawrence Library. Programs do not require registration unless
noted below. Children ages 7-13 years of age should not be left without the
presence of a parent or guardian somewhere in the library building.
